RIKETS 1/10/2006
AFTD Review
by Morley Seaver, Bedlam Society
Cleveland, Ohio. Seven wackos. 5 songs. Sounds like a good recipe for ear-pinching, head-dislocating rawwwwk, right? That would be correct, boy & girls. Rickets is a hard-hitting band that has all the right elements. They’ve got great songs, catchy melody lines, and a Slipknot sort of instrumental sound.
This EP cranks right off the bat. The vocals of Scott Rose are harsh at first, but one quickly adjusts and his sound winds up fitting perfectly. As well, the clean backup vocals really serve as a great counter-balance. The band is made up of ex-Switched, Erase The Grey and Genitorturers members.
My favourite cut on here is “Hollywood”, the most melodic of the bunch. Rose tries to scream out his small intestine on this one. The only drawback with this record is that there are only 5 cuts. Can’t wait for the full-length disc.
